Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom wiring harness. T-One connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered ModuLite reduces strain on wiring system.

Features:

  • Provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights
    • Compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters (sold separately)
  • Connects quickly and easily
    • Locate connection points behind tail lights
    • Plug in T-connector
    • Run hot lead to car battery
  • Includes ModuLite to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer
    • Powered module connects directly to the battery to avoid overloading vehicle's electrical system
  • Constructed of 16-gauge bonded wire
  • Comes with dust cap for 4-way flat connector

Specs:

  • Maximum amperage:
    • Stop/turn light: 2.1 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 7.5 amps per circuit
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Installation: This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness which is located behind the driver's and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assembly to access this harness.

Tail Light T Connector Diagram

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

AWESOME LOVE IT WORKS GREAT

by:

Wiring harness worked fine once I got it installed. The online videos are a grea resource to follow and I frequently ran from the garage to my computer as I went through each step. Since I was doing this in my home garage without the ability to put the car up on a lift like in the video, running the wires underneath up to the battery was a bit of a trick since I couldn't fit 2 arms up most of the time (got pretty good at fastening zip-ties one handed, which is harder than it sounds), but I was able to eventually get it completed.

Wiring harness is still working great after a year.

As always, fast shipping and excellent customer service. Wiring was straight forward on our Dodge Journey and went very well. Plug and play with only one wite to run.
Thanks again for everything.

by:

Very fast shipping easy to install hitch and wiring with great instructions. I’m not a mechanic or fabricator and was able to install with no help in just a few hours. Saved me lots of money on an install, everything fit perfectly and looks factory. Very high quality. Thank you etrailer!

All plug and play except the power wire, routing the power wire on jack stands sucked. Great product and happy with it, very easy install. I also bought the 4 pin to 7 spade adapter for a small pop up camper.

This is a product review of the T-one Wiring Harness- 118536 Installation on a 2015 Dodge Journey Crossroad (with LED Lights)

The package is complete and seems well made and installs straight forward just as in the well made video (highly recommend). I do have a couple of complaints/recommendations:
1. Include A LOT more zip ties. Its a long way to the engine compartment.
2. The powered black wire should come pre-spliced correctly soldered and shrink wrapped rather than a butt splice by the installer.
3. The method and location for the control box mounting that is intended to be adhered with double stick tape is NOT well designed. There is better mounting space further down the cavity from the tail light assembly. There is much better access from below the bumper.
4. Lastly- this is a rant on Dodge. Shame on them for requiring this kind of cobble kit that should be part of the factory wiring!!!
Routing the power wire up to the engine compartment is not so simple to route cleanly and keep away from the exhaust. Knowing what I know now, I would look into the possibility of tapping into a closer spare or capable 12V+ circuit that is closer.

Still great! I will be doing this again on another vehicle. Thanks etrailer!

Product had been working fine. I hard wired it into a 7-way tow vehicle end and use the 7-way for towing. Installation was easy. I had more trouble locating the correct wire for the Backup light circuit which was a separate wire from this harness. I also ran a 12-V fused hot wire from my battery to the rear of the vehicle for inclusion into the 7-way connector. Most of this wiring harness is hidden, so no pictures are available of the installation.

It is working fine. I have the 4-way connector hooked to my 7-way wiring and the 4-ways and extra cable are parked behind my bumper fascia. I have 12-Vdc and a brake control wire. I do not use the brake control as I bought the Curt 7-way Bluetooth controller.

by:

Installation was as per the instructions. If you are handy with your own auto repair, this is an easy system to hook up and use. Only issue came about 9 months after install, as the trailer lights did not work. Plugged in the tester and it also showed a failure. A day later, it was working again. May need to get into the connections to verify they are solid.

It is a good idea to check the connections to make sure they have a solid connection with the vehicle plugs. It is also a good idea to make sure the ground connection is stable on a bare metal surface free of paint or dirt. Intermittent issues like what you are experiencing is very common with a bad ground.

by:

I’m holding back on 5 stars. Kit is easy enough if your experience level is there. With 30+ years of Automotive work I really had no issues. My only reason for not giving this 5 stars is the kit should include one additional item. 3m and others make great little sticky back attachments for zip ties, this kit should have at least 8-10 to properly attach the wiring. Just to many areas that my Dodge Journey lacked good attachment points.

Etrailer, Pricing, shipping and informative videos are great 5 stars there

Excellent product, Zero issues after a year

by:

The product did work fine although there were a couple of faults I did find with the wiring product. The wiring from the power supply box to left tail light and turn signal should be a little longer so you could position the box better and I had to cut the green wire that went to the right turn signal and ad about an extra twelve inches to it in order to get it long enough to position it away from muffler and to protect it from the weather. At first I was kind of reluctant of trying to use it because the sealed package had been taped shut and one side was part way open. But would recommend it.

Rachael, I want to thank you and ETRAILER for doing a follow up on the product. So far no problems and dont anticipate any. I have also installed another for a friend who took my advice and purchase a trailer wire harness from ETRAILER. No problems with that installation either. Thanks again,

by:

I like that it plugs into the back of the light socket without having to cut wires - I would hate to cut into the wires of a 1 month old vehicle.
One error in my instructions - the power wire on my module is black, not red as in the instructions. Easy enough to figure out since it was the only wire left.
I installed mine differently than instructions, kept the all wiring and the module inside the vehicle, that way its not exposed to the elements. By removing the bottom sill cover, and prying back interior panels, I was able to push wiring through the body to the taillights. I fed the flat 4 into the bottom and coiled it where the jack stores. Can just pull the flat 4 cable out and route it under the hatch when I need to pull trailer.
I also used the rear cigarette lighter/power outlet as a power source, rather than route a wire to the front. I had to cut into the pink wire and use a butt connector to do this. It wouldn't carry as much current as running a separate wire, but it worked when I tested it.

by:

I bought a new car during the pandemic and had to have a trailer hitch to tow my jet ski. I found the etrailer website and ordered my hitch. I couldn't find the wiring on the website and when I called, he asked me what kind of lights I had on my new car - had never heard of that before, but come to find out they were LED lights, so I was able to order the right part. I paid a little more for faster shipping and it arrived 2 days later. Had it installed and all seems fine. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but everything looks great. Excellent website, customer service and shipping. Thanks.

by:

Installation of the hitch and wiring harness on my 2016 Dodge Journey was much simpler than I had expected (excellent instructions, btw), and the wiring harness and hitch have held up extremely well. I tow very rarely, but I have full confidence that when I back up to the trailer everything will work as it should. Great product. Zero complaints!

  • Determine if 2014 Dodge Journey has LED or Incandescent Taillights for Trailer Hitch and Wiring
Easiest way to tell is to watch the lights illuminate. If they come on immediately with basically zero transition between off and on and are almost painful to look at you have LEDs. If you can watch the bulb get brighter and looking at the light doesn't hurt your eyes you would have incandescents. Also if the bulb is round and has that old school style of wiring in it where there is two vertical wires and a couple horizontal wires that run between them that is incandescent. For a hitch...

  • Can 2014 Dodge Journey Tow More Than 1,000 lbs Safely
If the owner's manual for your 2014 Dodge Journey has your max trailer towing listed at 1,000 lbs then I don't advise going over that because that's what Dodge has tested and approved for your vehicle. If you do tow more than that and something is damaged you would most likely be voiding your warranty.
